THE BANFF MOUNTAIN FILM FESTIVAL WORLD TOUR 2013
Hot on the heels of the largest, and one of the most prestigious, mountain festivals in the world, the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour has hit the road, with stops planned in more than 390 communities and 35 countries across the globe.
This year, the Australian line-up features two-and-a-half hours of captivating footage shot in some of the most wild and remote corners of the world. Sure to enthral, it showcases 11 films packed full of mesmerising cinematography, thought-provoking storylines and adrenalin-inducing action sequences.
Audiences will experience incredible highs and agonising lows through the lenses of some of the most accomplished climbers, paddlers, skaters, snowboarders, canyoners, mountain-bike riders, explorers and adventure filmmakers alive today.
On their quests for higher vantage points, faster speeds and even more out-of-the-way places, they’ll lead you on a journey of discovery from Antarctica’s icy rim to the South Pole and back, to the top of Yosemite’s vertical walls, through deep powder in Japan, down fast-flowing white-water drops in New Zealand, high into the mountain ranges of Colorado, deep into the Grand Canyon, through an abandoned industrial site in Scotland, over an ice edge in Norway and on a high-speed road trip through Spain.
Join World Expeditions when the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour brings the spirit of adventure to the RMIT Capitol Theatre in Melbourne from the 19th to the 22nd June. For the first time in Melbourne we are offering a matinee screening on Saturday 22nd June, starting at 3:30pm with a special discount for children 14 years and younger. But be warned screenings often sell out in and advance so book early.

ZONE VENTURER COUNCIL – Monday 18 February 2013

The next Zone meeting is on Monday 18th February @ 7.30pm at Rosanna Hall, Turnham Ave Rosanna.
We will be discussing the 2013 Zone Goals, Award Scheme Presentations and hearing from those who attended the Qld Jamboree & the NZ Venture.
To start the year with a buzz, I’ve collated key information into the attached February Zone Bulletin that has lots of web links to relevant sites.
Leaders – please email this Bulletin to all your Ventures (and linking Scouts).

As this is a post Jamboree, Units need to be aware to identify those Scouts eligible for linking and get them into the swing of Venturers.
Don’t leave it too late!!!!!!

December Minutes are {available via MyScout} and other files noted in the Bulletin.

Hope to see you all on 18th February.

Regards,

Peter Datson
District Leader – Yarra Batman Zone Venturer Council

This Week 2013-Feb-19 (Tue) Gaming night (board, card, dice)

Tonight we are having a Gaming night where we will be playing board, card, and dice games generally referred to as ‘tabletop gaming’. Now when we are talking about card and board games, we are not talking about quiet parlor games but games that are a little more noisy such as Munchkin, Zombie Dice, Ticket to Ride, Castle Panic and Monty Python Flux.* (By the way – how good are your Zombie slayer skills?)

Bring along some snacks and settle in for some fun!

Zombie Dice

We’ll also need to plan for the Asta la vista night (secret Venturer’s business) and pack the trailer ready to go on AG for Friday night.

MEET: at the hall at 7:30 pm
