[NOTICE] 2015-Apr-24 (Fri ) to 25 (Sat) ANZAC DAY

ANZAC2015

Anzac Day Happenings

The plan for this year is to sleep over at Scout Hall on Friday night; up early Saturday for the Dawn Service at Eltham (6:00am service at Eltham’s war memorial hall) and then on to the march at Montmorency.

From 8:00PM Fri 24th April – At the Hall
The Venturers, Rovers and the Scouts will be sleeping over at the Scout Hall. Meet at the Scout hall from 8:00pm (after dinner). Bring your sleeping gear: sleeping bag, stretcher or ground mat, pillow, toilet bag, pj’s. If we can fit the bedding into the Venturer Den and Store (so we don’t annoy the Scouts) it would be appreciated. We might even be able to organise a fire drum on ‘the porch’?

The Scouts will be watching movies in the Hall, we can also set up a projector in the store/Den.

6:00AM Sat 25th April – Eltham Dawn Service
We will be attending the service at Eltham, this means meeting at the scout hall at approx 5:15am to commence the walk around to the Memorial Hall at 5:30AM (Eltham War Memorial, 907 Main Road Eltham). Please note that if you intend to go straight to the cenotaph, parking will be an issue as parts of Main Street will be closed before, during and directly after the service.

NOTE: All members are advised to ensure they are wearing full uniform and are wearing long trousers of the appropriate colour [Navy Blue or Fawn pants (or Blue skirt for Females)], along with dark brown or black shoes. Multi coloured sneakers are not acceptable. Members not dressed in a fitting manner will not be permitted to carry out a role as part of the official Scout presence.
Next of Kin who are wearing medals are reminded that they are to wear medals on the right breast, only the original recipient may wear them on the left.

Breakfast
After the dawn service, breakfast will be served at the hall. It will be either prepared by the leaders / venturers. Breakfast will be cereal and / or Bacon / Egg muffin.

9:30AM Sat 25th April – Montmorency
Following breakfast around 8:50am, Venturers will need to be transported to the Brumby’s Bakery in Were St, Montmorency (9:15am) so that we may partake in the march commencing at 9:30am. We then march from Were St, to the RSL where the service commences around 10:00 and goes until 10:30am. Refreshments from 11am at Montmorency Eltham RSL
