Jamboree On The Trail (JOTT) is an annual day for the World Scout Movement to hike together held on the second Saturday of May each year. All Scouts, whatever their age and wherever they may be in the world, are invited to participate in whatever way they can.
❝The JOTT Night Hike Crest for 2017 – For the first time in JOTT history a ghost crest is being introduced. It will be totally black and represents those JOTT 20th anniversary hikes taking place in the dead of night.❞
On Saturday 13th May, the Unit will be involved in the JOTT. This year we will be *hiking in the dead of night* to fit with the theme of the 20th anniversary dark crest.
The plan is to walk a loop of Westerfolds Park, then out the Main Yarra Trail via Candlebark Park to loop around Lower Eltham Park, and returning to Westerfolds Park. Depending on the paths selected this is 8 to 10km of walking. Using Naismith’s rule we will allow 2 hours for walking.
Dress appropriately for the weather, and for moving around the park at night. Bring a torch or a head torch, a day pack, full water bottle, a snack, and a compass if you have one. Maps will be provided on the night.
Remember to have a completed Caremonkey profile, or bring a completed a Personal Information Record. Happy hiking!
