This Week 2018-Jun-12 Hang swing (knots)

How do you like to go up in a swing,
Up in the air so blue?
Oh, I do think it the pleasantest thing
Ever a child can do!

Up in the air and over the wall,
Till I can see so wide,
Rivers and trees and cattle and all
Over the countryside—

Till I look down on the garden green,
Down on the roof so brown—
Up in the air I go flying again,
Up in the air and down!
— The Swing by Robert Louis Stevenson

This week we could add our own verse;

Up in the air tied into the roof,
Rope and spar combine, so bold,
Groans and strain and certain proof
The knots appear to hold—

It would be worthwhile reviewing the four knots selected by the 1st Eltham Unit Council for the Venturing Skills Award for tonight (Clove Hitch, Truckie’s Hitch, Re-threaded Figure of 8, & Prussik knot). That may assist the knots to hold 🙂

MEETING START: 7:30 pm, 1st Eltham Scout Hall
