Scouts Australia e-Learning!

Scouts Australia e-Learning!
http://training.scouts.com.au/
e-Learning has been developed as a way of providing more convenient training delivery for Scouting. Obviously self-paced e-Learning cannot replace all Scouting and Leadership training but it substantially reduces the number and duration of training courses that you are required to attend. e-Learning is designed to be undertaken in your own time and on an individual basis.

When you do go to a training course you will be expected to have completed the relevant on-line work so that you can fully participate in and benefit from the course content. By having some topics covered or introduced online (for example theory and background) there is more time left at courses to allocate to hands-on practical training.

As a part of Virtual Venturing in 2020, several award scheme requirement will now be completed via e-Learning options.

Curriculums: Training for youth members
This curriculum contains both modules written specifically for youth members and adventurous activities training.
It may contribute to award scheme completion. Successful completion of Adventurous Activities training may also contribute to your portfolio of evidence for VET unit recognition.

Getting the most from e-Learning

When working on a module:
• have a clear, uninterrupted block of time on your computer with no distractions
• have on hand your Venturer Scout Record Book and any other reference books that are mentioned in each module overview
• working side by side with another Venturer is encouraged, the Unit Discord server is perfect for this functionality
• if you need assistance, don’t hesitate to ask one of your Venturer Leaders
• If working alone, sometimes a second person (e.g. a family member) is needed to assist you in the learning. This is noted on the module overview.
• Do not rush. There are no prizes for speed. If instructed to read a few pages in your handbook, take the time to do so properly without skimming.
• Sometimes it is suggested that you discuss various things with your own Unit. Make an effort to do so.
• Have fun!
